Why british people like to drink so much?

not all of us drink but we have a reputation for drinking which goes back hundreds of years. We didn't have good water system in the middle ages/renaissance like they did in China and the East so most people drank alcohol because water wasn't safe to drink that's stayed with till the present . Not everyone drinks they just might want to have a good time while on holiday.
