HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, really?

I've spent some time thinking. I stumbled across an article that said said that in it's time The Exorcist had people running from theatres to churches. In another the 1930s war of the worlds broadcast and the response, the later one done in Chile and the military being sent to fight, and the 3rd one in buffalo in the 60s with the canadian military sent to defend the border. I read about the hundreds of calls to the police regarding the disappearance of the 3 people who went into the woods searching for the Blair Witch. It got the gears turning. Could you do it again? Update the story, perhaps not from space but rather a new species as a product of evolution because of global warming, or a fungal spore that kills on contact, crossbred animals, something somewhat believable, what do you think? Do I have any accomplices? What story would you spin?
